Day 1
The church is experiencing a time of extreme disorientation. For 1700 years, the church enjoyed a position of authority and influence (at least in the West). Now, however, the church finds that it has lost its place of centrality in society.
This disorientation is experienced in four ways: discontinuous change, exile, disequilibrium, and liminality.
We will look at each of these over the next four days.
